FINALS BABY!

STA-ET:QW’s First Season comes to a close this coming Wednesday with our Season #1 – Playoffs Finals Match featuring two of the best teams in the game going at it head to head in the best infantry only combat you will likely see for ages.

#1 seeded Silent Service finished the regular season with an always impressive undefeated season (8-0) and has racked up two more wins in the playoffs to run there win total and streak to 10-0! They will be facing off against #2 seeded House of Pain which finished there regular season at 6-1 (Had a BYE Week) and there only loss came in Week #3 at the hands of none other than Silent Service!

This is sure to be a wonderful match-up, as these two teams go at it on Sewer for all the marbles! The STA-ET:QW Admin Staff would like to congratulate both teams for making it this far and also wish both teams the best of luck in this the first of many to come finals matches!  GL HF!

he first teaser for the Mark Wahlberg-starring Max Payne movie was released early this morning. The film is currently slated to debut on October 17.

John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Flight of the Phoenix, The Omen) is directing the film, with a script penned by Beau Thorne, a first-time screenwriter.

Rounding out the cast is Beau Bridge as Payne's mentor B.B. Hensley, and Mila Kunis as the female assassin Mona.

The adaptation of the M-rated Max Payne series has been described as suitably dark by those involved in the project, though the film is apparently shooting for a PG-13 rating.

"The movie is PG-13," said cast member Kunis in a recent interview with ReelzChannel. "It's incredibly dark. You still get the gist of it. The only different between R-rated and PG-13 is you might not see as much blood."

One lucky winner will be driving away from QuakeCon 2008, in a brand new 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, valued at approximately $55,000. The 13th annual QuakeCon is North America's largest video game festival, party and tournament and will be held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas from July 31-August 3, 2008. QuakeCon admission is free to all attendees.

"We're extremely excited about our partnership with id Software to be a QuakeCon sponsor this year," said Brian Knapp, president, Flagship Industries. "This is our way to thank the hardcore gaming community for helping make Ventrilo the preferred group communications tools."

The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe to be given away will be Jetstream Blue, a new color introduced in 2008, with 3LT trim and a Z51 performance package. The car will be on display in the main exhibition area.

"As a long time Corvette fan and owner, I know Corvettes stand alone as an icon of American performance," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "Ventrilo brings gamers that same dedication to performance with their incredible voice applications. It's going to be awesome to watch one lucky fan drive away in a dream car, compliments of Ventrilo and QuakeCon."

250 tickets for the Corvette drawing will be awarded to QuakeCon attendees for everything from performance in the QuakeCon Pro and Quick Draw Tournaments to participation in other QuakeCon contests, events and random drawings. The winner will be randomly selected on Saturday, August 2, as part of the event's tournament finals party.

How Cool Is This??

News or old news (in practice)?

Once upon a time, in a far far away land.... some of us used to believe in honor, respect, and good sportsmanship. Then we had a crude awaking in TGL.

We were lead to believe that a league as reputable and up&coming as TGL, would guarantee that ALL gamers were using its highly potent, ever effective, and most notable ANTICHEAT program, BadApple™. Team ss did everything by the book. In the TGL 5v5 INF league (in which we came in #2), we later learned that many gamers and teams were NOT using the TGL AC prgm.

What did we do? We didn't cry foul. We informed TX|Grunt asking him to run a series of quality control checks and ensure all teams and players competing in the ETQW TGL league(s) were running it. Did we quit the league, knowing TEAM SS was getting railroaded, and flamed with BS stories? Nope.

Only recently did we learn, many ETQW TGL teams have not being using BadApple™. So much for "playing by the rules." Not once did Team Silent Service receive any word (private or public) from TGL about our professional handling and obliging their every whim in us submitting AC files an DEMOS for all matches played. However, as we now know, many others have not used it during matches, or at all. Did Team SS receive an "A" Report Card notifying whiners that there was nothing improper seen or found with any of our files? Nope. In this small, dieing scene, all one has to do is BE THE FIRST ONE TO ACCUSE, make movies, and return to high-school antics getting others to chant your foolish phrases.

Here we are again, TWL's turn. Is it another sham? Another way for some wannabe_startUP_company like X-RAY™ to make $$ at our expense and provide no real security? Some will wait to find out, others will not.

Q4Max 0.82 is now available for download. There are 3 significant changes in this release:

Tutorbot. The tutorbot allows you to record and playback snippets which you can share with other players, or use for practicing yourself. For more details, see the page in the wiki.

cg_unsmoothclients. This new cvar (defaulted to the preferred value of 2), makes the prediction of the other players' positions more accurate, and so makes the game much more playable at higher pings at the cost of some smoothness.

The Domination gametype ("callvote mode dom"). This is a team-game where you gain points for your team by capturing points throughout the level.

Of course, there are also the usual assorted other tweaks and updates : extra SuperHud options, infinite ammo votes, and fixes for some invisible projectiles coming from nowhere, a gui bug leaking large amounts of memory on dedicated servers, and "the headless quaker" bug.
